Movie Review :The Moral Value of IP Man 2 ^^

Our MPW Lecturer, Ms Farah  need us to complete a movie review about IP Man 2. This was my 3rd times watching IP Man.

There are several moral values are being highlighted in this movie.

First, the moral value that we can learn from this movie is family love. Family is the nucleus of our life. IP Man emphasized it in the show 2 times. In the midst of sparring with Master Hung, the Hung family were interrupted them. IP Man then said, “Do you think winning the fight is more important than having a meal with your family?” This show that the important of having a meal with family. On the other hand, after he defeated the boxer, journalist asked him what he most wanted to do and he replied that he want to go home. He love and miss his family. This shows the love to his lovely family and the just born baby that are waiting him at home. 

Secondly, the moral value that we also can learn from this movie is self esteem and respect of each other. The important of self esteem was highlighted in the movie. After IP Man won the British Boxer, he gives a speech to the audience, stating the despite the difference between their races. He was not trying to prove that Chinese martial arts is better than Boxing, rather, even through there is a difference in social status, there should not be a different between poor man or rich man. He point that the poor should not be bullied and it is important to have respect for one another. From this moment, we can all learn to know how to respect each other.

Lastly, being perseverance is also the moral values that being highlighted in this movie. Master Hung shows his perseverance when he is fighting with the boxing champion, Twister to defend his culture. Although Master Hung’s skills are evidently superior and has the upper hand at first, but he begins to weaken from asthma, causing him to get severely battered. He fights for Chinese martial arts, although IP Man tries to persuade Master Hung to stop the fight, but he remained stubborn until he is finally beaten by British Boxer. Besides that, being perseverance can also be seen through IP Man as he is determined to teach Wing Chun despite all the obstacles he faces like poverty and resistance from Master Hung.
